Chief Minister Modi inaugurates Gujarat Housing Scheme
Chief Minister Narendra Modi has promised to build nearly 50 lakh houses for the neo-middle, middle-class and slum dwellers in Gujarat. Inaugurating a slew of city projects on Monday 5th February 2014, which included a draw of lots for homes for Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) and Low Income Groups (LIG), Modi said that nearly 22 lakh houses will be built in urban areas and 28 lakh in rural areas in a time-bound manner.
WBK Engineering Services is involved in the design of around 2.5 million square feet built up area of affordable housing for the Gujarat Housing Board. An innovative building design with a reinforced concrete structure made of columns, shear walls and flat slabs was adopted to increase the speed of construction. Furthermore light weight autoclaved aerated concrete (AAC) blocks were used for the construction of all the exterior walls which reduces the total weight of the building and improves the heat insulation.
